CANTON - Investigators believe that three men arrested Friday on charges of armed robbery could be linked to the death of Nicholas Nichols, the 21-year-old whose decomposed body was found in a backyard here last week.

Raricos Collins, 25, George Gillum, Jr., 21, and Christopher Ross, 23, are all charged with armed robbery, but those charges could be amended as more information emerges about a July 20 barbecue that turned violent.

Police say both Ross and Nichols were injured when gunfire was exchanged. Nichols' body was found behind a home on nearby Boyd Street last Thursday morning.

"At this time, we are still investigating it, but we believe the two are connected," Canton Police investigator Terence Ware told WAPT. "We believe that these three individuals arrested are connected to the body that was found on Boyd Street."

Canton Mayor Arnel Bolden lauded the Canton Police Department for making quick arrests, and said he is anxious to see the case progress as new information comes to light.

"We're taking a strong stance against crime in Canton," he said.
