A new Ridgeland business hopes to offer high-end outdoorsmen equipment to people all over the metro Jackson area.

Andy Williamson, owner at Hook and Bullet Outfitters on Highway 51 in Ridgeland, said he saw a need in the local market for a high-end hunting and fishing store.

‘Sure, you can get fishing line anywhere but we saw where someone could be very successful offering services that may be harder to find other places. For instance, we have several exclusive camo lines, a well-rounded gun selection and an on-site bow tech,” Williamson said.

Their bow tech will restring bows, cut arrows and help customers troubleshoot any and all bow questions.

“We think it is kind of a big deal to offer a service like this,” Williamson said. “I think it sets us apart and really isn’t something you can find in a big box store.”

Williamson said their business is located in an old bank. The guns are displayed in an old vault.

He said they decided on the Highway 51 spot because they wanted to be connected to the strong hunting communities in and around Jackson and Madison County.

Williamson and his wife live in Madison. He has hunted most all of his life and though he has only been open since April he already has rapport with a number of customers.

“We want it to feel like you walk into your buddy’s hunting store and can get helped by a friend,” Williamson said, after offering a customer he knew by name a convivial ribbing about the maroon, rather than red and blue, shirts he was looking at.

They also have more casual offerings, suitable for tailgating.

“We hope it is a unique experience,” Williamson said. “Our tagline is ‘We are inspired by southerners and their outdoor pursuits.’”
