RIDGELAND — As construction on a new Dollar General begins off U.S. 51, a convenience store down the road is getting a facelift as a branded Shell.

Bradley Morris with the Fleet Morris Petroleum Company, Inc. told City Planner Matt Dodd in a signed letter that his company had received permission from Shell to renovate the store at 290 Highway 51 and brand it.

“My company has received approval from Shell Oil Company to re-image the convenience store and gas station at the above referenced address,” Morris said.

Plans include replacing the metal fascia on the canopy, installing two sets of Shell emblems on the canopy, install ingbrick around the columns, installing a new monument sign with a brick base and replacing the fuel dispensers.

In a site plan packet approved two weeks ago, city officials approved renderings and a list of about six proposed colors for various facets of the Shell project.

At the same meeting, city officials approved a new office building for Summerhouse Realty on Professional Parkway.

Plans for the 2,088-square-foot building show eight offices, two reception areas, three restrooms, two kitchens, closet space and two conference rooms.

The plans include a detailed list of plants and their arrangements that will be included in the landscaping. Air conditioning units will be hidden by outside landscaping.

The parking lot will include nine regular parking spaces and one handicap spot.

It will be located at 4 Professional Parkway.
