Shelby Greer, a senior at Germantown High School won the state CP Jones Music contest at the Sunday School and HYM division of the Church of Christ Holiness USA (COCHUSA) Diocese Convention on June 21 in Jackson.
Greer advanced to the national convention in Atlanta, Ga. July 24 - 28.
Greer won first place performing Give Me Jesus by Moses Hogan and God Forbid by Bishop Charles Price Jones.
Greer is the daughter of John and Lori Greer and the granddaughter of Clifton and Delores Goodloe of Canton and Mr. Johnny C. Greer, Sr. and the late Mrs. Mary Victoria Greer of Carthage.
Caitlyn Beasley, a freshman at Tougaloo College won the state Youth of the Year and the M.R. Conic Oratorical Contest at the state convention and also advanced to nationals.
Beasley placed first in the Youth of the Year Competition and second in the oratorical contest.
Beasley is the daughter of Stan and Melba Beasley and the granddaughter of Clifton and Delores Goodloe Jr. of Canton and Nettie Beasley and the late Samuel Beasley Sr. of Zwolle, La. Bertram Goodloe, Sunday School and HYM state outgoing president pictured with Greer and Beasley was very pleased with the state's representation.
