Shrek The Musical tells the story of a swamp-dwelling ogre who goes on a life-changing adventure to reclaim the deed to his land. Joined by a wise-cracking donkey, this unlikely hero fights a fearsome dragon, rescues a feisty princess and learns that real friendship and true love aren't only found in fairytales!
"Shrek The Musical keeps all the beloved characters from the original film and adds the dimension of song. The score is fantastic and the entire cast is loaded with talent," said returning director Peppy Biddy. "One of the challenges with this type of show is translating an animated film into a different medium. We can't replicate every moment, but we can capture the spirit and humor of the original piece."
New Stage Artistic Director Francine Thomas Reynolds added, "We have great musical numbers and dancing and costumes. And it's all live, that's what's different than the film. Shrek's in the flesh, right in front of you. The huge dragon, the magic, the princess - it's all living and breathing, which is awesome."
The role of everyone's favorite swamp-dwelling ogre, Shrek will be played by Jason Marks (Richmond,Va.). Taylor Galvin (Auburn, Ala.) will play the feisty Princess Fiona. Kolby Kindle (New York, N.Y.) is Shrek's lovably annoying best friend Donkey and Chris Roebuck (Jackson) plays the vertically challenged villain Lord Farquaad.
Rounding out the cast of misfit fairy tale characters, the people of Duloc and Far, Far Away are: Tymothe Thompson, Regan McLellan, Michael Gibson, Jay Jurden, Thaddeus Morris, Neill Kelly, James Watson, Nicholas Ford, Jackson Haber, Laura Landrum, Jessica Ziegelbauer, Kate Yost, Mandy Kate Myers, Sharon Miles, Sarah Proctor, Anna Claire Elliot, Jaylen Taylor, Ashley Elizabeth Murray, and Stella Allen. Directed by Peppy Biddy with Musical Direction by Harlan Zachary, Jr. Marks appears through the courtesy of Actors' Equity Association.
An Actor Chat is immediately following the performances on Wednesday, May 28 and Wednesday, June 4.
