"In the past nine seasons I have been very excited and pleased by the caliber of actors, singers and musicians who have come into to audition during our annual open audition call. Each year continues to impress me. We have frequently found new faces from the auditions and I have been amazed by the consistency of talent demonstrated by more established actors. It has been satisfying to employ so many of actors discovered through our open audition process," said artistic director Francine Thomas Reynolds. She continued, "We are looking forward to seeing the best actors, singers and actor/musicians that Mississippi and the South has to offer and finding a place for them on stage at New Stage Theatre during the 2014-2015 season."
The upcoming season's selection of plays offers the opportunity to cast a wide range and diversity of talent from the powerful male and female roles, in the recent Broadway hit and Tony award winning play All the Way to the varied youth and adult acting and singing roles in the musical version of Peter Pan. The upcoming season has a lot of roles for singers, musicians and dancers. The theatre is seeking a diverse group of strong actors, singers and musician/actors for It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues and One Man, Two Guvnors. The specific instruments needed are acoustic guitar, bass, drums and keyboards. All types of actors are needed for One Man, Two Guvnors and 33 Variations. Directors viewing the auditions will also be considering actors for other projects during the year, such as our Eudora Welty New Play Series in the Hewes Room Theatre space.
