Mary Elizabeth Delhommer Cox died July 7, 2014. A funeral service was held July 9 at Galloway United Methodist Church with burial following in Parkway Memorial Cemetery. Wright and Ferguson handled the arrangements. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. Leopold Armand Delhommer on Jan 25, 1926. She grew up in Jackson and graduated from Central High in 1944. She received her bachelor's degree from Belhaven and graduated from Parsons School of Art and Design in New York. Mary was a member of the Mississippi Arts association and was a winner of the Crisler award for outstanding achievement in art. She also modeled for various agencies in New York and later worked for Sinclair Oil in Jackson. She was actively involved in her church, Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church. Mary was also an accomplished painter and one of her paintings of the Christ is displayed in St. Catherine's chapel. She is survived by her husband Justin Lamar Cox Sr.; sons; James Oliver Cox IV (Hope) of Ridgeland, and Justin Lamar Cox Jr. (Collette) of Madison; daughter; Allyson Cox Davis (Ricky) of Madison, and six grandchildren.
