Sam Coleman Shute of Ridgeland, died on September 16th in the Jackson Mississippi State Veterans Home. He is now reunited with his son Sammy along with his parents and siblings.  A funeral service was held at Broadmoor Baptist Church Chapel in Madison, Mississippi on September 20th.  

Burial  followed at Parkway Funeral Home in Madison.  Sam was born in Greenwood, Mississippi on December 29th, 1929. He served in the US Army from 1951 until 1953 when he was honorably discharged.

He married Betty Jo Shanks on July 17th, 1955 and they had two sons, Jim and Sammy. Sam retired from Deposit Guaranty Nation Bank after twenty-eight years in 1995.

Following his retirement, Sam worked part-time as a courtesy clerk at the Ridgeland Kroger Supermarket until 2017. Sam was loved by his peers and customers alike. Sam was a long-time member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and participated in a Sunday School class there. Sam was preceded in death by his father George W. Shute, his mother Willie Mae Shute, his sisters Genevieve Lundy and Mary Elizabeth Young, his brothers George Shute and Billy Shute.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years Betty Jo Shute, his son Jim (Brenda), grandchildren Laura Shute and Molly Powell all of Dallas, Texas and Daughter in law Diana Shute, widow of Sammy Shute. Nieces include Jenny Pleasant (Bill) of Pearl, MS, Georgia Williams (Hal) of Greenwood, MS, Diane Shute of Ann Arbor Michigan, Judy Bair of Hood River, Oregon, Beverly Simpkins (Leon) of Tallahassee, Florida, Barbara Wimberly of Brevard, North Carolina and his nephew Dr. Bob Lundy (Kim) of Flora, Mississippi. Memorials may be donated to Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison, MS or a charity of your choice.
