Thomas Jefferson Evans, Jr., 91, of Madison died December 7, 2013. Mr. Evans retired from South Central Bell in 1981. He was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, he was a decorated veteran of World War II, and a charter member of The National World War II Museum.. He was a member of the Marvin United Methodist Church of Florence.

Mr. Evans was predeceased by his wife, Carrie Sue Black Evans, second wife Bessie Eileen Evans, along with one son, Robert Benton Evans. He is survived by sons, Thomas Dwyte Evans (Sandra) of Winona, MS and William David Evans (Pam) of Fort Smith, A, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, one stepdaughter, two step grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Dec. 10 at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the National WWII Museum, New Orleans, Marvin United Methodist Church, Florence or the charity of choice.
