Former Mississippi State baseball All-American Hunter Renfroe has been selected to participate in the 16th annual Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game, Major League Baseball announced Tuesday.

The Crystal Springs native will represent the U.S. Team against the World team live on the MLB Network at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 13 at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minn.

In 74 games this season, Renfroe has hit for a .284 average with 17 home runs and 53 RBIs. The right-handed outfielder is currently the ranked as the 4th-best prospect in the San Diego Padres' organization and the 80th-overall prospect in all of baseball. Renfroe has played for Double-A San Antonio since being called up from Advanced A-ball on June 18.

Major League Baseball, in conjunction with the MLB Scouting Bureau, Baseball America and the 30 MLB organizations, chose the 25-man rosters for each club. Each franchise is represented, and players from all full-season Minor Leagues were eligible to participate.

The honor is a big deal for Renfroe, considering the past success of Future's Game Selections.

A total of 115 players have competed in both the All-Star Futures Game and the MLB's All-Star game. In 2013, 37 Major League All-Stars were alumni of the Future's Game. Twelve players have appeared in the Future's Game in one season and the MLB All-Star game the following season.

Renfroe hit 20 home runs as a Bulldog from 2011-2013, including 16 in his junior year, when he also batted .345, slugged .620 and led the team with an amazing 65 RBI's in 66 games.
