Tri-County Academy got back on track by defeating Newton County Academy Friday night in Flora. Newton came in to the contest as the #3 ranked team in 2AA. Tri-County entered the game on a two-game losing streak after falling to rivals Manchester and Canton the past two weeks. The Rebels forced 6 turnovers with their hard-hitting defensive effort and took full advantage of them all by scoring early and often. TCA scored four touchdowns in the first quarter to take a 28-0 lead and would never look back as they defeated the Colonials 38-7.

Cade Shepherd led the Rebels offense with two rushing and two passing touchdowns. Garrett Harmon had one rushing and one receiving TD and Greyson Smith had a receiving TD as well. The Rebel defense was led by Smith with 10 tackles and 2 fumble recoveries and Garin Ward’s two interceptions.

Tri-County travels to Greenville Christian for a District 2AA game on Friday night at 7pm.
