Germantown-28 Cleveland Central-13

Germantown took control of second place in their district with a win over Cleveland Central. 

Germantown did their damage with the legs of sophomore running back Nick Barnes. Barnes ran the ball 30 times for 168 yards and two touchdowns. 

Sophomore Colton Gardner threw the ball nine times, completing five for 107 yards and a touchdown.Senior Ken Richmond caught the touchdown pass, his only catch, for 51 yards.

On defence A.J. Edwards, a junior, caught an interception and returned it for a touchdown, he also blocked a field goal. 

Germantown is 5-4 on the year and 4-1 in district and will travel to Canton for this week's game.



Velma Jackson-60 McLaurin-24

Velma Jackson’s offense rolled to another huge victory this week and they advance to 8-1 on the year and 4-0 in district. 

Junior quarterback Diallo Thompson led the team through the air with 167 yards and 8 completions on 14 attempts and four touchdowns. He also ran the ball twice for 15 yards and a touchdown.

They ran the ball for a total of 256 yards but no back got more than nine carries and seven backs touched the ball. Senior Santavis Vaughan ran the ball five times for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Freshman Carsyn Day ran the ball twice for 17 yards and a touchdown.

On the receiving end, sophomore Jordan Harvey led the team with four catches for 111 yards and a touchdown. Senior Lamar Harris caught three passes for 41 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore Gredarian Smith also caught a pass for 15 yards and a touchdown.

Velma Jackson will take on Raleigh at home in their regular season finale this week.



St. Andrew’s-23 Raleigh-47

St. Andrew’s falls to .500 on the year at a 5-5 record and 1-3 district record after a loss to Raleigh.

Despite the loss senior quarterback Holland Townes had a good game for the Saints. He threw the ball 38 times, completing 20 for 327 yards and two touchdowns. His also threw three interceptions. 

Receiver Aaron Cooper, a junior, was the other big offensive standout. He caught four passes for 139 yards and a touchdown. He also threw a 10-yard touchdown pass.

St. Andrew’s will finish out their season at Crystal Springs this week.



Jackson Prep-56 New Hope-7

After having their 22-game win streak snapped by MRA the week prior, Jackson Prep righted the ship against New Hope.

Jackson Prep is 9-1 overall and 3-1 in the district and will finish second overall in the division with the loss to MRA, regardless of the outcome of Prep’s  season finale at Parklane Academy this week.

Jackson Academy looks to build momentum going into the post season and did so with their second straight win this week.

JA is 7-2 overall and 2-2 in district with losses to MRA and Jackson Prep. Stats were unavailable for the game.

They play at Oak Forest Academy this week as their season finale.



Madison Central-35 Provine-0

Madison Central got back on track after their first district loss the week prior with a big win over Provine.

Quarterback Jimmy Holiday, a junior, threw the ball 14 times, completing 10 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran the ball five times for 55 yards.

Three other backs led the way for Madison Central. Senior Johnnie McDonald ran the ball six times for 47 yards. Sophomore Duke Arnold ran the ball eight times for 58 yards and two touchdowns. Javarius Jordan also ran the ball six times for 67 yards and a touchdown.

Madison Central will play Northwest Rankin at home this week. If the Jaguars win and Starkville also wins, Madison Central, Northwest Rankin and Starkville will be a in a three way tie for first in the district.



St. Joseph-27 Puckett-0

After a loss to Canton Academy last week St. Joseph got a big win over Puckett to improve to 5-5 on the season and 2-2 in district play.

Senior quarterback Daniel Clarke threw the ball 22 times, completing 13 for 186 yards and two touchdowns.

Senior Chandler Thornhill led the team on the ground with 19 carries for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Senior receiver Kiland Harrison led the team in the receiving game with six catches for 105 yards and a touchdown. Senior Stephen Wolf also caught two passes for 23 yards and a touchdown.

St. Joseph plays at Pisgah in Snadhill this week.



Canton Academy-26 Heritage Academy-49

Canton Academy finished out the season with a loss to Heritage Academy. 

They fall to 4-6 on the year and 1-3 in district, which put them in fourth place out of five and means they miss the playoffs this year.



Tri-County Academy-50 Hartfield Academy-13

Tri-County finished off the regular season with a blowout win over Hartfield Academy.

Stats were unavailable for the game.

They finish the year 7-3 overall and 1-1 in district play.

Tri County made the MAIS AA playoffs and will play Oak Hill Academy at home this week in the first round.





Ridgeland-24 Neshoba Central-42

The Titans lose big to Neshoba Central in a game they needed to win.

The Titans are 5-4 overall and 2-3 in district play. They are tied with three other teams for fourth in 5A district region 2 and need every win they can get from here on out.

Stats were unavailable from the game. 

They will play Holmes County Central at home this week.



Canton-42 Vicksburg-34

Canton got a huge win over Vicksburg to put them in a three way tie for fourth in 5A district region 2. 

Senior quarterback Jontarius Brown led the team with 13 passes, completing 10 for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Brown ran the ball 12 times for 64 yards and two touchdowns.

On the ground senior Camerone Harris led the team with 21 carries for 115 yards. Junior Jacobian Morgan ran the ball twice for 11 yards and a touchdown.

Junior Jaiden Burns caught both touchdown passes. He totaled four catches for 79 yards.

Canton, 6-4 overall and 2-3 in district, will play Germantown at home this week.
