Maury B. Breazeale has been named associate editor and publisher of the Madison County Journal, it was announced.
Breazeale will oversee the day-to-day operations of the newspaper, including directing the advertising sales team, coordinating marketing and promotions, niche publications and new media.
A Jackson native, Breazeale, 27, most recently was an account executive for non-daily publications at The Clarion-Ledger.
Breazeale, a 1998 Jackson Academy graduate, received an English degree from the University of Mississippi in 2003.
He is the son of Don and Missye Rhee Breazeale of Northeast Jackson.
"I am very excited about the opportunity to help shape the future of a newspaper that I believe is an invaluable asset to an already burgeoning community," said Breazeale.
"I pledge to improve upon the Journal's excellent record of service," he said.
James E. Prince III, editor and publisher of the Madison County Journal and president of Prince Newspaper Holdings, Inc., which publishes the Journal, said, "As a native Jacksonian, Maury's deep roots in this community will enable him to help lead the Journal to an even higher plane."

Breazeale began writing for The Northside Sun when he was 10 and was a sports correspondent for Jackson Academy in high school.
At Ole Miss he worked as office assistant and reporter for the Sports Information Department; covered all athletic events (football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, women's soccer, softball, riflery) and worked as a student representative for the SEC at events like the National Invitational Tournament and the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
Breazeale is a former staff assistant in the election campaign of U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran.
He was a photographer and webmaster for Alpine Camp for Boys in Mentone, Ala., and a writer/photographer for VIP Jackson Magazine.
Breazeale studied English literature & American culture in the United Kingdom in in the spring of 2001 and has traveled extensively, including stops in the UK, France, Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Austria, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand and Fiji.
He is a Diplomat in the Ridgeland Chamber of Commerce.
Breazeale is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson.
The first edition of the Journal was published published on April 21, 1982, as the Twin Cities Madison County Press by Paul Stewart of Yazoo City.
In July 1992, after a long series of other owners, Prince at 28 became a controlling partner in what was by then the Madison County Journal, and in January 1993 became the sole stockholder.
In 2000, Prince Newspaper Holdings was formed, and the company, in which Prince remains the sole stockholder, publishes other newspapers in Philadelphia and DeKalb as well.
