Benton man arrested for felony theft in Gluckstadt

GLUCKSTADT —  A Benton man wanted for shoplifting in multiple jurisdictions remains in custody here on shoplifting charges.

The man, Darrell Darnell Carter, 54, has been charged with felony shoplifting and faces multiple citations for driving with an expired car tag, according to Gluckstadt Police Chief Barry Hale.

According to Hale, Carter is accused of stealing over $1,200 in merchandise from Ace Bolt & Screw off of Church Road on April 30 and May 5.

“He is also suspected of similar thefts at the Richland and Jackson locations,” Hale said.

Carter was recently arrested in Jackson on unrelated charges and was brought into local custody on Tuesday, May 13. 

“Thank you to the Jackson Police Department for their quick response on the day he was taken into custody,” Hale said.

Hale said Carter was issued a $150,000 bond during his court appearance the following day. Carter remains in the Madison County Detention Center.
