Canton investigating 2nd shooting at apartments

CANTON — The second shooting in under a month was reported last week at an apartment complex here.

The Madison County Coroner’s Office is investigating the homicide death of 32-year-old Quincy Pate, Deputy Coroner Joel Shows said. 

Pate was shot dead on the evening of Monday, May 12, Shows said. 

The Canton Police Department did not respond to requests for further comment as of press time.

The Madison County Coroner’s Office is assisting in the investigation along with the CPD, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, and the Office of the State Medical Examiner.

This is the second shooting at the Canton Estates apartment complex in less than a month. 

CPD and the MCSO are investigating the shooting death of Megeil Tyrone Walsh, 22, reported on the evening of April 22. The apartment complex is located at 388 Rick’s Drive in Canton.
