Fannie Garner Dowdy
Mrs. Fannie Garner Dowdy (formerly of Ecru), 87, entered into God's glory on, October 10, 2024.
Mrs. Fannie grew up in Pontotoc County and was the youngest of four children. For 65 years, Mrs. Fannie was the devoted wife of William Gray (Bro. Bill) Dowdy through army days (while stationed in the US, England, and Germany) and through pastor/gospel ministry days (serving Toccopola, Liberty, Mt. Olive, Furrs, Gaston, White Oak, Cliff Temple, Concord, Faith, and Cairo Baptist churches).
Mrs. Fannie is survived by her children Rev. Billy (Lynette) Dowdy of Laurel; Darlene (Larry) Clark, Olive Branch; Pam (Jeff) Hobby, Madison; and Tim (Adrienne Parker) Dowdy, Madison; grandchildren Becky (Owen) Fleming, Picayune; Jackie (Mary Virginia) Bost, Madison; Katie Latch, Ocean Springs; Sarah (Evan) Prisock, Brandon; Rachel (Brennan) Reeder, Mary Esther, FL; Parker and Michael Frascogna, Madison; Jen (Jay) Powell, Olive Branch; Jac (Mark) Szafranic, TX; John (Sally) Long, Meridian; Chris (Sylvia) Long, CA; Tami (Steve) Turo, Biloxi; great grandchildren Avery, Oli, and Finley Latch; Jack, Betsy, and Henry Bost; Kendall and Drew Fleming; Lily and Mary Elizabeth Reeder; June and Grady Powell; Grace Szafranic; Laci Long; Christopher Long; Owen and Ethan Turo; and a host of extended family and close friends.
Mrs. Fannie is preceded in death by her husband, Bro. Bill; parents, Clarence and Mamie Garner; siblings, Addlene Tutor, Jean Tutor, and W.R. Garner; infant children, Mary Elizabeth and David Garner; daughter-in-law, Vicky Dowdy, and grand son-in-law, Jacob Latch.
Services were held October 14,2024 at West Heights Baptist Church in Pontotoc. Burial followed in the Ecru City Cemetery.
