Friendship Park closed for scheduled maintenance
RIDGELAND — Friendship Park will be closed this month for maintenance
Friendship Park was temporarily closed to the public on Monday, Jan. 6, John Sidney North, Director of Recreation and Parks, said. The closure will continue through Tuesday, Jan. 21, for the removal of dead and hazardous trees and scheduled park maintenance.
“We understand Friendship Park is a beloved space for our community,” North said. “This temporary closure will allow us to address safety concerns while ensuring the park remains a welcoming and vibrant destination for years to come.”
The planned work will include the removal of dead and dying trees that pose safety risks, maintenance and repair of park facilities and trails, as well as general upkeep to preserve the park’s beauty and functionality.
“The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of visitors and to enhance the long-term health of the park’s natural environment,” North said
Crews will be working diligently to minimize disruptions and complete the work as efficiently as possible, North said. The park is expected to reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 22, weather permitting.
“We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we make these important improvements to Friendship Park,” North said.
The announcement was made on Friday, Jan. 3. The park is located at 475 Lake Harbour Drive in Ridgeland.
