Holly Stubblefield Powell, 52, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, rested in the arms of her Lord on October 14, 2024. 

She was born in Jackson, Mississippi, on August 29, 1972 to Dr. and Mrs. Earl T. Stubblefield. She was a graduate of Jackson Academy, and then continued her education at Birmingham-Southern College, where she earned a degree in history. Holly pursued and obtained a Juris Doctorate from Cumberland School of Law. 

She held several legal positions in Mississippi and Tennessee, and had recently earned the title of Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 (c) Family Mediator. After completing her education, Holly spent her adult life in Oxford, Mississippi, and then Chattanooga, Tennessee. 

Holly was preceded in death by her grandparents, Graves Crawley Sr. and Golda Thompson Stubblefield of Jackson, Mississippi, and McGee and Maxine Cathey Williamson of Canton, Mississippi.

She is survived by her sons, Christopher Mills Mathews and Francis McGee “Boo” Mathews; her husband, Warren Coleman Powell; her parents, Dr. Earl Thompson and Ann Cathey Williamson Stubblefield; her sister, Dr. Ann Elizabeth “Lisa” Stubblefield Stanley (David); her brother, Dr. Earl Thompson Stubblefield, Jr (Jenny); her stepsons, Wil Powell (Erin) and Hunter Powell; step-grandchildren James and Emma; and nieces and nephews: Sophie, Ava, Beck, Merritt, and Camille. 

A private family service was held October 19, 2024, in Canton, Mississippi, where she will be laid to rest near her grandparents.
