Madison development to create entertainment district
MADISON – Plans were announced Tuesday for a new mixed-use arts and entertainment district set to reshape the community’s cultural and commercial landscape.
Bellamare Development, working in conjunction with Madison the City, unveiled The Gallery, a new development off Galleria Parkway that promises to offer a vibrant blend of family-friendly attractions, dining, shopping, and office space—all designed with Madison families in mind.
The Gallery will be a privately funded destination, integrating walkable architecture and thoughtfully planned amenities. It represents a direct response to growing community interest in local entertainment and lifestyle options.
At the center of the development is Spinners, a 120,000-square-foot indoor and outdoor family entertainment complex. The venue will include bowling, skating, arcade games, and more. Spinners, a Mississippi-based business, is expanding to Madison with its second location.
Mayor Mary Hawkins-Butler expressed enthusiasm about the project.
“The aldermen and I are excited to announce Madison’s newest children’s venue,” the mayor said. “Spinners will be opening its second facility, this one in Madison, highlighting skating, bowling, games and so much more. As always, Madison does it right the first time, and we are excited about this venue coming to our city. Very soon we will see some very happy children.”
Jennifer and Terrence Lott, the owners of Spinners say the decision to expand in Madison came after seeing the city’s vision.
“We are excited to open a second Spinners Family Entertainment Center in Madison,” they said. “As a Mississippi-based company, Spinners has always been about bringing families and friends together to make lasting memories. After meeting with the mayor and hearing her passion for the city and its families, we knew Madison was the perfect fit. Our new state-of-the-art facility will offer over 120,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor fun, and we’re honored to share this vision with the mayor, the board of Aldermen and Bellamare Development.”
In addition to entertainment, The Gallery will feature Royal Street—a French-inspired promenade lined with locally owned restaurants, boutique shops, and office space above. The design emphasizes charm and accessibility, with a focus on supporting small businesses.
Mississippi firms WBA Architecture and MP Design Group are spearheading the design and engineering, further underscoring Bellamare’s commitment to investing in local talent.
“From day one, this has been a project built for Mississippi, by Mississippians,” said Chad Phillips, Madison native and Partner-Executive Director for Bellamare Development.. “We’re proud to work with local talent to bring this vision to life.”
Phillips emphasized Bellamare’s community-driven approach.
“We at Bellamare Development have listened to the community, and we’re building what was asked for,” Phillips said.
Groundbreaking is planned for fall 2025, with construction to follow shortly after. The project will be privately financed, with no taxpayer dollars involved. City leaders and developers plan to continue working closely together to ensure the project evolves with community input.
Phillips said the total investment in Madison stands at $60 million right now. This summer, he said, the property will be cleared with dirt work and construction scheduled to begin in the fall. He is estimating that Spinners will open in the Fall of 2026 with other businesses opening in late-2026 or early-2027.
Phillips said right now additional businesses occupying the 100,000-plus square feet of additional space could include five or more restaurants and approximately a dozen retail spaces. The office space is planned to be upstairs overlooking Royal Street.
