MADISON — A new alliance of local businesses looks to strengthen and grow businesses within the city.

The network is designed to promote businesses that are either headquartered in Madison or have a brick-and-mortar location here, said Matt Smith, a city spokesperson.

“We want everyone from small mom-and-pop shops to Walmart,” Smith said.

The network will host ribbon cuttings, quarterly seminars and other events to promote the business community in the city of Madison.

“We want to remind everyone that it is important to shop local,” Smith said.

Last month, the alliance held their first seminar at their inaugural luncheon at Georgia Blue in Madison.

The keynote speaker was Jim Richmond from C Spire. Smith said he shared “valuable insights” on “the power of community networking.”

Smith said the luncheon was well-attended.

“It went great,” Smith said. “It was completely packed. I think everyone was in high spirits and excited leaving room. I think our members have some good momentum moving forward.”

Smith said the city established the alliance after the local chamber of commerce dissolved about five years ago.

Currently, they have 89 members in the alliance. Smith said they hope to grow and will be hosting their next event early next year slated for March.

The network has a membership fee of $100 per year per business. For more information, visit https://www.madisonthecity.com/
