MAIS basketball all-state and awards announced

The MAIS basketball all-state teams and awards were recently announced, with multiple area players and coaches being honored. 

In MAIS 6A girls, Jackson Prep’s Michael McAnally was named 6A Coach of the Year and Ann Magee Stradinger was named 6A Player of the Year. 

Players included on the 6A girls’ all-state team were Anna Morgan Anderson and Presley Hughes of MRA, Meg Barbour and Taylor Caton of Jackson Prep, and Jaden Rhymes of Jackson Academy. 

In MAIS 6A boys, Jackson Academy’s Jesse Taylor was named 6A Coach of the Year and Caleb Gaitor took home 6A Player of the Year honors. 

Players included on the 6A boys’ all-state team were Kevin Roberts Jr. and Ben Segrest of Jackson Prep, Joe Anthony of St. Joseph, Erick Dampier Jr. of MRA, and Marcus Goodloe of Jackson Academy.

On the MAIS Overall girls’ all-state team, which includes players from every classification in the state, Anna Morgan Anderson, Presley Hughes, Allie Redding, and Annie Tolar were named for MRA. Taylor Caton and Ann Magee Stradinger were also honored for Jackson Prep. 

The MAIS Overall boys’ all-state team and awards included Jackson Prep Head Coach Zach Allison taking home Coach of the Year honors. On the all-state team, Jackson Prep saw Kevin Roberts Jr., John Ed Maddox, Ben Segrest, and EJ Vaughn named, while Schlyer Chambers, Caleb Gaitor, Marcus Goodloe, and Austin Richards were named from Jackson Academy. 

Jackson Prep girls and Jackson Academy boys won the MAIS 6A state title, while Jackson Prep boys won the MAIS Overall state title.
