Reward offered for horse shooter
REUNION — A reward is being offered in the Reunion Stables Christmas Day horse shootings.
The $7,500 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the ongoing investigation into the two horses that were found shot at the Reunion Stables.
Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers announced the award last Thursday.
Madison Police Lt. Micah Taylor confirmed early this week that the investigation is still ongoing and that they are still searching for leads.
MPD responded to The Reunion Horse Stables, 515 Gluckstadt Road, to a report of two horses being shot.
Investigators believe the shootings occurred between 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 24 and 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 25. The horses were found shot by stable workers at about 8 a.m. Christmas morning.
One of the horses succumbed to its injuries on scene, and one was taken to a local veterinary clinic and is expected to make a recovery, Taylor said.
Further investigation has determined that both horses were shot on the south side of the property while in separate, neighboring pastures. The area is located between Cherry Hill and Reunion.
Ballistic fragmentation tests have confirmed that each horse was shot by a .22 caliber rifle, the authorities said.
