Robert Morris Hamil, age 27, a resident of Flora, MS, entered Heaven on March 30, 2023. Robert was born on April 7, 1995, and lived most of his life in the city of Madison.

Robert was a football standout at St. Joseph Catholic High School in Madison, MS, and later played at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, MS, and at Mississippi College in Clinton.

Being reared within a family restaurant business called Mama Hamil’s, Robert enjoyed working with his dad and peers as well as other family members and was always greeting patrons with his attentive smile. Robert had a passion for planning and constructing projects such as building computers from scratch and later picked up welding which led to residential and commercial construction projects under the name of Hamil’s Construction.

After working construction all day, his relaxation was being around and loving on his two young daughters. They loved seeing their dad walk in the door with his floppy hat, sweaty t-shirt, worn out work pants and boots his wide open arms embracing them. Helping others was a strong trait of Robert, no matter the need or size of the job. The day after the tornado struck Rolling Fork, Robert and Lexie left very early Saturday morning after loading up construction equipment such as back hoes and supplies. They worked and assisted those in need for the next 16 hours giving of their time to aid others.

Robert is survived by his spouse, Lexie Worsham Hamil; two daughters, Harper Hamil and Hayden Hamil; parents, Bob Allen Hamil and Jeanne English Hamil; along with sisters, Bailey Hamil Lyles (JB) and Lucy Hamil, aunts Charlotte Johnson and Janet English Smith, uncles James (Connie) Hamil and John (Becky) Hamil, cousins Everette (Tiffany) Johnson, Lee Johnson, Justin (Alix) Hamil and Paige (Logan) Toney, Gerek Evans and Ellie Smith, and in-laws, Ryan and Mistie Worsham.

Robert is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Alfred Hamil, and paternal grandmother, Edith Hamil; maternal grandfather, Reese English, and maternal grandmother, June English.

Pallbearers are C.J. Jones, Griffin Kennington, Landon Ware, Justin Hamil, Sam Simon, Cameron “Cam” Powell, Seth Worsham, and Ryan Worsham.

Visitation was Monday, April 3, from 10am - 1pm. The service followed at 1 p.m. at the First Ridgeland Baptist Church located at 302 W. Jackson Street in Ridgeland, where Robert and his family were members. Interment was at the Natchez Trace Cemetery located at 759 Hwy 51 in Madison.
