Topgolf developer plans to revamp I-55 hotel
RIDGELAND — The Jackson firm that brought Topgolf here now has plans to give an interstate hotel a major facelift with first-class amenities.
Gabriel Prado, CEO and President of PraCon Global Investment Group, will give the Drury Inn just off the interstate here a “major facelift” with “extensive renovations” and new amenities including a pool cabana, a pickleball court, and a rooftop bar.
The hotel has been renamed the Prado Hotel. Gabriel Prado acquired the property on Feb. 4.
PraCon Global Investment Group, a Mississippi company headquartered in Jackson, has launched Prado Hotel in partnership with Choice Hotels International with the recent acquisition.
“This partnership with Choice Hotels International marks the launch of the Prado Hotel brand,” Prado said. “This will be part of their boutique brand, Ascend Collection, which is the highest upscale brand for Choice Hotels.”
The hotel has 175 rooms. Prado said they expect to keep the hotel operating throughout the renovation process. Prado said the process has not yet begun but said it should take about 18 months.
Prado Hotel will keep the amenities already offered at the property including hot breakfast and a happy hour and will incorporate top-shelf options to its free drinks and snacks in the evening.
Just last week site plans and the architectural review for the renovations and facelift were approved aldermen at their regular meeting.
Ridgeland Mayor Gene F. McGee said the improvements will strengthen the city’s position as the go-to place for metro visitors.
“Ridgeland continues to be a destination for business and hospitality and we are excited to welcome Choice Hotels International’s transformation of the former Drury Inn into the Prado Hotel,” McGee said. “PraCon Global Investment Group’s investment reflects the strength of our local economy and confidence in our City’s future.”
PraCon Global Investment Group collaborated with Wealth Hospitality during this transaction and new brand development. Chico Patel, CEO of Wealth Hospitality, said the revamped property gives the Jackson area another great opportunity for visitors.
“Wealth Hospitality guiding PraCon Global Investment Group through their acquisition and launch of the Prado Hotel by Choice Hotels International reinforces our commitment to our strategic partnerships in developments in Ridgeland and other prime locations in the near future,” Patel, stated.
The launch of Prado Hotel expands the “Prado” brand portfolio including the new development “Prado Vista” at the corner of Sunnybrook Road and Colony Park Boulevard in Ridgeland anchored by the state’s first Topgolf that opened in December. Prado said other projects include the “Prado Lofts” to be built in Fondren.
“We are grateful for the City of Ridgeland, Wealth Hospitality, and all of our team members who made this possible,” Prado stated. “Acquiring this property and launching the brand of Prado Hotel in a partnership with Choice Hotels International, marks a significant step in our growth investment strategy in our Hospitality Vertical, allowing us to expand our footprint in a dynamic market. This acquisition reinforces our commitment to Ridgeland, Greater Jackson, and Mississippi while enhancing our portfolio with properties that align with our vision for sustainable, long-term success. The Mississippi momentum continues, and we are thrilled to be ambassadors of the greatest state in the U.S.”
