Week 2 High School Pick Em’
After getting a sample size of MAIS football last week and Madison County teams going 3-0 to open the high school football season, Madison County football fans will be able to catch all six MAIS teams in action this week. Five Madison County teams will be playing on the road this week, with only one playing at home, but it is still a very solid slate of games.
Our guest picker this week is former Jackson Academy and current Arkansas State wide receiver, Kiandre Terry. Terry is a 2024 graduate of Jackson Academy and is entering his freshman season with the Arkansas State football program. He had a successful career with the Raiders, where he was named to the 6A All-MAIS Football Team and was named a MAIS All-Star. Terry was rated as a three-star recruit and left Jackson Academy as the school’s second leading receiver in terms of catches with 70 and finished third in career receiving yards with 1,098, according to the school’s website.

Jackson Academy will be the only team in the MCJ coverage area playing at home this week and it should be a very solid matchup with one of last season’s MAIS 5A quarterfinalists, Leake Academy. The Raiders got off to a very hot start to open the season last week, defeating Bayou Academy on the road by a score of 45-0. It was a really strong performance for Jackson Academy in that season opener, especially on the ground, as Omarean Ellis and Kingston Mays combined for 250 yards and five touchdowns rushing. Look for the Raiders to try and impose their will on the ground once again in this one.
