Jackson man alleged to have stolen car crashes in R’land

RIDGELAND — A Jackson man was arrested here after crashing a stolen car on South Wheatley Street last Thursday.
The man, Derrick Terrell Hayes, 39, of Jackson, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and felony fleeing, the authorities said.
Hayes was driving a vehicle that was reported stolen in Ridgeland when he crashed into a power pole and was ejected on South Wheatley Street in between Walnut Ridge Street and Lake Harbour Drive around 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers said.
“No other parties were injured,” Myers said.
Hayes was transported to a hospital with what Myers described as “extensive injuries.”
Entergy worked after the incident to repair the power pole Hayes hit.
