Jackson Prep claims 6A state championship

The Jackson Prep Patriots finished the season with a 9-4 win over Hattiesburg’s Presbyterian Christian, claiming the MAIS Class 6A title in the process. The Patriots finish the season 39-4 and 15-0 in district play.

“This was a great season,” Coach Brent Heavener said. “We were so proud of the boys for how they handled themselves throughout the year. To finish the year with the seventh championship in a row and Nationally ranked is something special. They never felt pressure and just went out there played, had fun and did it together. We have the best players and coaches anywhere in the country and we’re so thankful to be a part of it.”

PCS was able to force a game three on Wednesday, May 15, posting a 6-2 victory but Prep would prove too much the following evening going up 6-1 just in the first inning.

Prep had to beat a 24-14 Madison Ridgeland Academy in a three game series to advance to the finals against PCS. Prep won game three in that series 11-1.
