Fifteen robotics students in Madison County Schools are now 2024 World Champions! Four teams from across the district earned trophies at the 2024 VEX Robotics World Championships in Dallas this month. The competition attracts tens of thousands of students from fifty countries across the globe who have qualified to compete at the highest level.

At the middle school level the team names may sound silly, but the world-class competition is anything but. Madison Middle School’s Team Acidic French Toast won the second highest score in the tournament finals. Team members include McKellar Goff, Leo Wei, Henry Newkirk, and Quest Crothers. Madison Middle School’s Team Curry Powered Unicorn Monkeys, including members Austin Yang, Kareem Eleraky, Lucas Pavalock, and Stavya Bhardwaj, won the Sportsmanship Award which recognizes a high degree of good sportsmanship, helpfulness, respect, and a positive attitude both on and off the competition field. Team Radioactive Spider Monkeys, also from Madison Middle School, brought home the Judges Award recognizing attributes in a team that may not fit in other award categories, but the judges felt were deserving of special recognition. Team members include Daniel Pawlik, Daiwik Malhotra, Yuva Peddireddy, and Marsh Matthews.

At the high school level, Team Vexecution from Germantown High School earned the Sportsmanship Award, recognizing a high degree of good sportsmanship, helpfulness, respect, and a positive attitude both on and off the competition field. Team members include Emiliano Valdez, Ethan Knight and Crosby Petro.
