MADISON — A four-hour standoff with an armed man and police in a subdivision here on Monday ended peacefully, Madison Police Lt. Micah Taylor said.

“No charges are expected at this time,” Taylor said.

MPD got a call reporting a domestic disturbance between a 25-year-old male and his father at a house in The Reserve neighborhood at about 9 a.m. on Monday, May 20.

Upon arrival, Taylor said officers established that the family had exited the house but the man was still inside and was armed.

A crisis negotiator was brought in and four hours later the man “came outside with his hands up,” according to Taylor.

The man was then sent to a medical treatment facility.

Taylor said because there are no charges and the situation was resolved peacefully that he could not reveal much more information about the incident or those involved at this time.

Taylor thanked the Ridgeland Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Department and Rankin County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance with the special response team.
