Sun Belt Men’s Golf Championship begins Monday at Annandale
MADISON – The 14 men’s golf programs of the Sun Belt Conference travel to Annandale Golf Club here for the 2023 Sun Belt Men’s Golf Championship on April 24-27.
The par-72, 7,190-yard course will play host to the Sun Belt Championship for the first time. Opened in 1981, Annandale Golf Club was designed by Jack Nicklaus. It has played host to numerous championship events, including serving as home to the PGA Tour Sanderson Farms Championship from 1994 to 2013.
The championship will begin with three rounds of stroke play starting Monday. The teams will tee off from split tees beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT, with six teams teeing off on No. 1 and eight teams teeing off No. 10.
The top-four teams from the 54-hole stroke play event will advance to match play on Thursday, April 27. The semifinal matches will begin at 8:30 a.m. CT with the No. 1 and No. 4 seed on No. 1 and the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds on No. 10. The championship match will follow the conclusion of the semifinal matches on Thursday.
Georgia Southern is the Sun Belt Conference’s highest ranked team, checking in at No. 26 in the latest Golfstat Team Rankings. The Eagles are one of five Sun Belt teams ranked in the top-100 nationally, including No. 67 Southern Miss, No. 74 Arkansas State, No. 77 Troy and No. 99 ULM.
Among current Sun Belt Conference members, South Alabama has won the most Sun Belt Men’s Golf Championships with 10. Louisiana has captured three titles, while Georgia Southern and Troy each have two.
All three rounds of stroke play, along with Thursday’s semifinal and championship matches, will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Live scoring will be available through Golfstat.
