Martin’s to open at Livingston

LIVINGSTON — A long-standing Jackson-based venue for food, drinks and live music will be opening a second location here this summer.

Joseph Stodghill, the owner of Martin’s Downtown on State Street in Jackson since 2012, said he looks forward to bringing their “really good food, live music and extensive drink selection” to their newly-announced location on Church Road in Livingston where The Gathering was formerly located.

“We are committed to this long-term,” Stodghill said.

In addition to Martin’s Livingston, Stodghill said they wanted to maintain the gas station portion as well.

“I have always liked that location,” he said. “We live about two miles from Livingston and use that gas station all the time.”

In addition to gas, Stodghill wants to offer full breakfast offerings and competitively priced, staple grocery items at the gas station.

He said a remodel would be in the works and could shut the gas station down for a day or two but noted they plan to continue to pump gas through the entire transition.

Stodghill said he heard that space was open in early January — a day he remembers well because he had surgery that morning.

“As soon as I got home and got comfortable I started working the phones,” he said.

Stodghill said they hope to open in May.
