Police nab man in sting

RIDGELAND — A Madison man was arrested at Northpark mall for the alleged exploitation of a child.
The man, Mark Wayne Williams, 60, of Madison, was arrested and charged with exploitation of a child on Saturday, March 9 in a mall parking lot at at 12:39 p.m.
Exploitation of a child is a felony offense.
Ridgeland Police Lt. Bret Bertucci said Williams was caught in a sting operation. He believed he was communicating with a 15-year-old through a text messaging app.
Williams is out of jail on a $75,000 bond. Williams was in court on March 12 and the case was bound over to the grand jury, Bertucci said. Bertucci said the bond included a stipulation Williams wears an electronic monitoring device.
