Shirley Habeeb Abney

Shirley Habeeb Abney, 85 of Madison,MS died November 1, 2023. 

She was born in Vicksburg,MS on April, 20, 1938 to Philip and Shirley Habeeb. 

She is survived by her son, Luke Abney and his wife, Alison and grandsons Simms and Owen Abney. 

Shirley graduated from St. Francis Xavier Academy, Vicksburg in 1956. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Milsaps College in 1960. While at Milsaps, she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority and a Kappa Alpha Rose. She began her career as an elementary school teacher in the Jackson public school system. In the 1980s, Shirley opened an antique store near downtown Jackson and later worked in other retail entities. She was a lifelong Episcopalian and was very active in her church, The Chapel of The Cross. 

She served on the Cookbook and Building Committees and participated in the Wednesday Morning Bible Study, Foyer Group and Day in the Country. 

A funeral service was held at Chapel of the Cross November 7th, 2023. Memorials be made to The Chapel of the Cross.
